SuperCruise 2006
May 18-20
2006 marks the 50th anniversary of the 56 Ford F-100 and as most of us know, it will also be the year that Pat Ford gives away a 56 F-100 at the F-100 SuperNationals in Knoxville, Tennessee. SOCP members are planning to travel to the event this year and some are planning a convoy called the SOCP SuperCruise 2006. The show itself runs from May 18th to 21st, with the big giveaway taking place Saturday night and you must be registered and present to win!
Our SuperCruise promises to be a fun tour with lots of camaraderie and stories to be told for a long time if history repeats itself. SOCP members can register for the low price of $25 which gives you an exclusive SuperCruise golf shirt, Sunoco bucks, access to all club related activities, and loads of fun times. If you are a non-member you can register for $50.
And perhaps a good reason to register even if you are not on the cruise, a chance to win $500.00 in gift certificates from Pro's Pick, manufacturers of high quality parts for your F-100!!
If you want to be part of the SOCP group traveling down, here is a rundown of the cruise:
Departure
The cruise officially leaves on Wednesday, May 17th from Milton early, as in 5 am. There seems to be a lot of interest in traveling independently to Owosso Michigan on Tuesday night and then leave as a group from Owosso at 9 am on Wednesday instead. Please be sure to let your intentions be known as to what you would like to do!
We will be traveling through upper Michigan and working our way down I-75. This allows us to meet with Michigan members and truckers along the way. We are working with an Ohio Ford dealership to plan a sponsored BBQ for lunch.
Wednesday will end again at Shady O'Grady's south of Cincinatti in Hamilton Ohio. It was a popular spot with great food and we get to hook up with the Tri State F-100s once again. Accommodations will be arranged for Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, just down the road about 15 minutes. Rooms are blocked at the Super 8 so call Gary Pratt at 905-263-2661 for all the info.
Thursday will be a very leisurely drive into Knoxville with an early afternoon stop planned at Alloway's Hot Rod Shop in Louisville, Tennessee, just south of Knoxville and then on to the show. Rooms are still available at the Days Inn just off the interstate 40 about a half hour east of Knoxville at exit 407. Call and ask for Roy at 1-800-304-3915. You will need accommodations for May 18, 19 and 20 here.
Other activities are being planned and our customary Friday night dinner and club picture will be held at Bob's Mountain Restaurant (awesome southern fare and a fun drive) between Knoxville and Sevierville.
Return
The return trip will leave Tennessee Sunday morning at 8 am. We will travel north and end the day in or near Canton Ohio, home of SOCP members Mike and Cheryl Bragg. We will have a BBQ in conjunction with our club and members of the Bragg's local car club. If anyone wishes, they can travel home without stopping for the night. Otherwise, we will have hotel rooms reserved and the majority will leave Monday morning to finish the cruise. Monday should be about a 5 hour drive to Toronto, provided we don't stop at Summit Racing for too long!!
